Kelsey and the Quest of the Porcelain Doll

From UQP Media Release:
From award-winning author, Rosanne Hawke comes 'Kelsey and
the Quest of the Porcelain Doll', a captivating story about adversity, adventure, love and belonging.

When Kelsey's parents decide to help flood victims in Pakistan, she finds herself in a totally unfamiliar world. Everything is different from Australia the buildings, the food, the clothing.

All Kelsey can think about is how much she misses her friends and her Nanna Rose. Luckily, she finds comfort talking to her nanna via Skype.

'Nanna, can you tell me a story just as if I were with you?'

To help her granddaughter adjust to her new surroundings, Nanna Rose creates a story about a porcelain doll called Amy Jo who goes on an adventure in search of someone to love her.

Kelsey joins her nanna in imagining the doll's travels from meeting new people, to being taken by a monkey, to being tossed in a flooded river.

But how will the porcelain doll's story end? Will Amy Jo find the person she's destined for or be on a quest forever?

Meanwhile, Kelsey befriends a Pakistani girl named Shakila who shows her the joys of living somewhere different. It's not long before Kesley realises that Pakistan isn't that bad after all.

For Rosanne, the inspiration for Kelsey and the Quest of the Porcelain
Doll came from the stories she shared with her daughter while living in Pakistan as an aid worker. She has also been inspired by stories about lost things before they are found again, such as 'The Steadfast Tin Soldier', 'The
Lost Coin', and 'The Velveteen Rabbit'.

Full of wonder and excitement ... and a surprising ending, Kelsey and the Quest of the Porcelain Doll will delight anyone who has ever loved something precious.
