Sally Heinrich launches Marrying Ameera in Kapunda

The henna that was on Sally Heinrich's hands as she launched Marrying Ameera was just like the henna patterns Ameera would have had on her hands at her mehndi (henna) party.

Sally has been writing and illustrating for as long as she can remember, and has so far managed to avoid getting a real job. As well as creating picture books, novels and non-fiction, her work includes illustrating for clients such as the Singapore Zoo, printmaking, painting personalised children's furniture, running workshops and tutoring writing and illustration.
Much of her recent work draws on her experiences of travelling and living in Asia. The search for connections and relationships between peoples, cultures and the environment, and for a sense of place and of belonging, are recurring themes in her writing, artwork and her life in general.
