Rosanne's school days

I went to school first of all at Penola Area School. Then we moved to Queensland because my dad was a farmer and new brigalow land was being opened up there. In Banana, Queensland I went to a one teacher school. Every now and then if the numbers went above thirty we had a second teacher. Here's a picture of half of my whole school. I'm the one squinting as usual.

Rosanne's school days

I started High School at Moura State School. I went on a bus and travelled 70 km each day. I got dreadfully tired and often fell asleep doing my homework. I was 14 when we moved back to South Australia. There had been a killing drought in QLD. We stayed in Adelaide for a term looking for a property to buy. In the meantime I went to Taperoo High School and made good friends there. Then when we bought a property at Two Wells I went on a bus to Gawler High School. Here's a pic of me in when I was 16. I was in the cheer squad for a swimming carnival. I was in Murray team which as you can see was green. At the time I couldn't swim properly (I only ever saw large bodies of water once a year when I grew up in QLD). My brother made me pose like this.

Here's a picture of my Year 11 class at Gawler High in 1970. I'm the one wearing a prefect's badge in the front row, third from the right.
