Aidan finds a new land across the
creek in the old abandoned mine. His friend Jenice was lost in the bush a
year before but he finds her alive in this land. There are some other
children as well. It is up to Aidan to rescue Jenice and the other
children from the horrible spriggans, but can he do it in time to escape
from the land or will he be frozen there in time like the others?
on Cornish folklore, Across the creek shows piskeys, spriggans (warrior
fairies), browneys (home helpers), a Lady of the lake, and the giant
Trebiggan, all who followed the emigrants to South Australia. The
dragaroo (cover picture) is a mixture of the two cultures. With at least
20% of South Australians having Cornish heritage it's good to have some
Cornish titles now for young people to read.
